Biography

Meatloaf was born Michael Lee Aday. He was the first child of police officer father Orvis and school teacher mother, Wilma.

In 1967, Meat Loaf left Texas and moved to Los Angeles where he started working as a bouncer at a nightclub. It was in LA that Meat Loaf formed his first band, Meat Loaf Soul. It was during the recording of their first song that Meat Loaf hit a note so high that he managed to blow a fuse on the recording monitor which immediately led to an offer of three separate recording contracts- which he turned down all of.

Is it cruel to say that Bowie is the male equivalent of Madonna, constantly re-inventing himself as musical tastes changed in order to remain at the front? The simple answer is yes, it is both cruel and inaccurate.

Bowie is a huge talent who, incidentally and unlike Madonna, can act! He is a painter, a designer, a visionary, a song writer, a composer, a saxophonist, a guitarist, a pianist, a record producer and one of the Post War era’s most extraordinary live performers. Compare him with Prince possibly (although Prince looses out badly in the comparison), but not to Madge.

Chris Rea’s seemingly unemotional virtuoso guitar playing, and smoothly rasping voice combined with his ability to write catchy, blues based songs have led him to a genuinely global success with over 20m in album sales worldwide.

Rea only started to learn guitar when he was 19. He was born in Middlesbrough into an Italian English family and his father, an Italian immigrant, owned a chain of ice cream shops. Rea was not happy at school and it was, apparently, after hearing a Joe Walsh song that he went out to buy a guitar and a bottle neck. (more…)

To support his comeback 2003 album, Meat Loaf toured the world. In February of 2004, the tour took him to Australia where he performed in Melbourne backed by the Symphony Orchestra. The concert featured 13 songs from his catalog including 7 songs that comprised one of rock’s all time best selling classic albums, “Bat Out Of Hell.”

Always looking for another extravagant gesture to make, Meat Loaf outdoes himself once again with this spectacular live concert performance. Taking to the stage with the backing of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Meat (or should that be Mr. Loaf?) works his way through a number of his classic hard hitting rock tunes. Among the tracks performed are “Dead Ringer For Love,” “Life Is A Lemon (And I Want My Money Back),” “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That),” and of course the ubiquitous “Bat Out of Hell.”

Chris Martin will be performing at Neil Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit on Octocber 24th and 25th at the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco, CA. The shows go on sale at on Sunday, September 20th at 10am PST through www.ticketmaster.com or the Shoreline Amphitheater box office.

The gigs will raise funds for the Bridge School, a program for the communicative and educational development of children with severe speech and physical impairments.
